Xavier Griffin is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at the Oxford Trauma Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital offering a specialist service to people who have musculoskeletal injuries.

Professor Griffin graduated from Green College, University of Oxford in 2002 having previously obtained a First Class Honours degree reading Medical Sciences at Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge. He underwent 10 years of orthopaedic and trauma training in Bristol and Coventry before completing specialist fellowships in both trauma and hip reconstruction surgery in Melbourne, Australia.

Professor Griffin previously undertook a PhD at the University of Warwick in which he investigated the causes of pain in musculoskeletal disease. He remains an active clinician scientist, conducting clinical trials and basic science research at the University of Oxford. Professor Griffin is an associate professor at the University in recognition of his ongoing research and teaching in Orthopaedics, and is affiliated to Wolfson College, Oxford. He supervises a number students studying towards higher-degrees in Orthopaedics and plays a role in a number of national level policy making committees related to injuries and their management.
