Mr Deakin graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, now part of Imperial Medical School in London in 1990. Postgraduate training was on rotation in London for 8 years, followed by 6 years in Oxford, before completing a Specialist Fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty and sports knee injury in Sydney, Australia.
Mr Deakin previously undertook a Masters Degrees in Surgical Sciences at University College, London, passed with distinction. He remains involved in teaching for the medical students of Oxford University as well as in postgraduate education and has been an honorary senior lecturer for the University.
Mr Deakin is based primarily at the Oxford Trauma Unit, John Radcliffe Hospital where he has been a Consultant since 2004, but is also involved in the Acute Knee Service at The Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre, Oxford.
